AA is at it again.
Now they have listed their "916 Clone" on eBay. $22.5K for a car that is "reasonably perfect".
You would think that they could, at least, get the front and rear panels aligned correctly. I can do that in my driveway. Phil |

I couldn't find it. Where is it? I looked under 914s.

OK I found it. Your right, that hood to bumper fit is a little weak. Otherwise it looks good.

That's been on before and IMHO is a bunch of bunk.
For $3500 on the interior alone, wouldn't you think they could get the proper steering column and put the ingition on the dash. No center console, no proper gauges, no manual throttle, so I assume it costs $3500 for the fabric that theu used on the seat and doors that matches few if any 916. The trunks are not carpeted and that wouldn't be too difficult or costly to do. There is also the missing oil cooler and a wrong blinker and tail lens'. That whole add is a lie. The add should read... "it almost looks like a 916 at 50' by a Porsche novice". $3500 on the interior? $30k restoration? Oh, that must have been one of their rust free cars! YMMV

Wow!! I'm new to the 914 board and it seems like AA is a very popular dealer
![]() Pray tell of some of your more pleasant stories about AA.

AA has, apparently, recently changed their registration with eBay.
Likely because their past feedback looked awful, justifiably. Under their new registration, their feedback rating , 11/18 to 12/19, is 2 negatives out of 15 transactions. Doesn't look any better than their old record under Treadway. AA has a hell-of-a selection of new and used parts, kind of expensive but, I wouldn't blame them for that. Their return and adjustment policies exist only to their own benifit. They are not noted for their customer relations, to say the least. Phil |

Yes, you are correct, sir! AA is a favorite around this board; most often just the mention of them turns a normal post into a flamer. You can search archives if you want, or just stick around here....someone is sure to relate their latest experience any time now.
I have no experience with AA myself, but on a side note, I was wondering if anyone had heard of or dealt with PAP Parts. I was told by a fellow (owner?) there that they supply AA with a lot of their stuff. |

I have bought some parts from PAP (stands for Porsche-Audi-Parts, I think, which was a big salvage yard) when they were located on Buford Highway in Atlanta. It seemed like a pretty good place. My last dealing was about two years ago when I was looking for the special chrome philips head machine screws used to mount the exterior mirror to the door since I was adding a mirror to the passenger door. The salesman went back into the warehouse, found a pair, and gave them to me, no charge. Pleasant surprise. I stopped by their location this past year to check into some 911 struts and brakes, only to find they were gone. I went across the street to the Datsun/Nissan salvage yard and was told that PAP had left about a year ago and they thought they had relocated to Dehlonega, GA. I never did follow up on that, but would like to know if they are there or where they did go.

Huh, you would think that AA was an Anerican English speaking company. I looks more like the typical China translated to english manuals I get. Who wote that crap for them???

You know the AA guys have to be reading the stuff we say about them on here. This is like direct customer feed back and 80% of it in negitive. Dr. 914 must be feeling good about that. Wonder what his market share is now that PP is running circles around him.

PAP is located in Dahlonega now and I have also heard that AA gets most of their parts from them. PAP's web site is http://www.pap-parts.com.
Now for the AA story. Living near to AA my father brought his 944 to them for a new clutch. After numerous "other items" that needed replaced as well and $2,500 later the car drove for a couple of days before having to be towed to another mechanic. With a quick inspection it was determined that the clutch was not only a used one but was installed incorrectly. A video was taken of the clutch as it was dis-assembled; with that and the threats of legal action my father was lucky enough to get his money back. |

PAP experience
Just my $.02. I bought a complete used interior and a new complete rubber kit along with a bunch of other parts from PAP a few years ago for a junky early 911 that I had. They delivered the parts to my father's shop in Georgia on their way to a race, which was nice, and they picked up a used rear reflector update (worth $50?) and a factory 911 whale tail (the lip seal alone was quite valuable) with the understanding that they would get back to me with an offer to buy them, sell on consignment, or return them. When I called back a few months later to check up on my parts, there was no record of them being picked up, sold or otherwise disposed of. I also ordered parts from them when I worked in an English car shop here in Durham. The service was slow and unreliable - calls not returned, orders not shipped when they were supposed to be. In addition, my last (and only) order from AA was incomplete, incorrect (some engine parts for a 1.8 instead of 1.7) and the prices were very different from those I saw on the web site - they often have several versions of small parts and rubber and they sell you the most expensive unless you ask for the "generic". That, in itself, is not a bad thing - just make sure you ask how much each item is when you order. I am looking forward to my next order from PP so I can compare experiences.

AA and PAP
I have bought parts from everybody!! It depends on who has what I need right now.
AA: you have to be 100% sure you can't get it anywhere else. If you are SURE you are getting a new part at a good price and will not need to return it, then go ahead. I bought the rear update kit from them with the solenoid release, and when the solenoid crapped out, they were no help at all. $150 down the drain, 'cause I had to cut a hole in the reflector to open the trunk. PAP: Nothing I buy from them seems to be in the condition I expected. They over rate the condition of their used stuff, which means I have received items from them that was no better than the piece I was hoping to replace. that's annoying. PP: Always the first place to check. I love that this site lets me build a "project list". Then I just wait until I have enough bucks and go buy a bunch of stuff. The quality of the parts, and the knowledge from PP is th every best.

One and only experience with AA was for seals, their "More Pillowy Repros". While the seals worked fine, it was the plier marks in their "new" seals that bothered me. Guess they had problems removing it from the mold
![]() Outcome = 1st and last purchase from the "experts". They're always on eBay and I wouldn't trust a word they say (Never have bought their book, it probably is printed with disappearing ink). Further note - ![]() |

aa&pp
I have bought from both, 1st. order , ever was from A.A., They didnt have what I wanted online, on hunch I called them . The guy on the phone said" Always call, the on line catalog is so far out of date they will never catch up ". Ordered Break @ clutch pads, they sent 3, . May be they thought a had a Model T with a reverse pedal??????? .Next was a jack strap, Paid for it , back ordered , called them 2 wk. later they had no record of my order. and sent me another, that was Thanksgiving time, not here yet. Experence with Pelicar Parts is just the reverse, after my first order with them , I got TWO EMails asking if order was all right and on time, and what I wanted. So I just order from them. Pap Parts never responded to my emails........ Thanks for letting me vent..... Dave

I frequent PAP alot. They are 11 miles from my shop, so....
Anyway, I grab all my 911 fan assemblies for the Big engines from them, and get to kind of see what they have.. They are one HELL Of alot better off than AA is, but I cannot complain about AA, they contribute to my customer base....LOL
