Engine lid - install tension springs

Does someone have a suggestion for reinstalling the tension rod springs on the engine deck lid? Thanks.

Get your biggest hammer, put your thumb on a work bench and smash your thumb as hard as you can.

It's going to happen anyway so best get it over with.

Engine lid is much easier than trunk lid. Just put them back in one at a time and then attach the middle bracket.

(** NOTE - I realized I was referring to the rear trunk lid springs here.)

I once used the end of a large closed-end box wrench slipped over the end of the spring to flex it down and under the roller. It seemed a little dangerous, but it worked fine.

No biggie - just insert one end in the hole and then push the end on to the hinge using your thumbs.

In making the GT lids, I must have removed and re-installed over a hundred sets and none have required anything other than a bit of manual force. It does help to have the lid off the car and on a bench.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I ended up using a "deep socket" on an extender.
