Replaced my rear window seal.....but...
Replaced my rear window seal yesterday. After I got the window in and lightly pressed in placed, I noticed I didn't have it centered left to right properly. I tried to slide it over but it was pretty much stuck by then.
I have about a 1/16" gap on the drivers side and about 3/8"-7/16" gap on the passenger side. Is this something I should worry about? Will body flex be a concern? |

HMMM
Just did mine the other day. Seemed to fit snug and even. With the torrent of rain we have been getting down here it don't leak. I think that is the most important part. I suppose you could cut it out again and risk breakng it. Good excuse for a LEXAN unit.

See if the interior peices cover up the gap before removing it.

The rear window has to be sealed tight, one way or the other, or it WILL leak water. BTDT. Then your rear floors will rust. I used black silicone goo (windshield sealant) to seal mine around the edges in a few spots; not a drop since.

Oh the window is sealed thats for sure and the interior trim covers the gap.
I was just concerned with the one side of the glass being so close to the vertical edge of the roll bar that maybe if the car twisted just right, pulling into a drive way or such, it could pinch the glass and break it. I drove it tonight and checked it out....I think I was paranoid for nothing... |

Not to say it couln't happen, but the rollbar is above it and the rear firewall is a large triangulated member of the frame. I wouldn't worry.
Remember these cars were"hand-made" by Karmin so 914's vary from car to car anyway.
