Checked my old tuning notes, on my 1.7L I ran the following set up with very good results.
55 Idle Jets 120 Main Jets F7 Emulsion Tubes 180 Air Correctors The engine idled cleanly, off idle to part throttle transition was smooth, no flat spots and the engine pulled clean and strong to redline. I don't have the exact vacuum recorded, but at 900 rpm idle, I believe it was in the 18-in range. Hope this helps, Ed |

Carbs and white cars
You gotta pick your battles and know when to get help.
When you get home for the summer we are gonna fix up them carbs. I just don't think you can hunt around and hope to stumble upon a great running motor. I would like to pull both carbs bench set them and go from there. ![]() |

I checked the CB Performance jetting guide I have and they recommend for 1600cc to 2000 cc: 28mm venturis, 120 mains, 210 air corection, F11 emulsion tubes, and 55 idles.
On my 2.0L I run: 28mm venturis, 120 mains, 210 air corection, F11 emulsion tubes, and 50 idles. (I ran 55 idles for a long time but found the engine would not want to start when hot. I switched to 50s and the problem cleared up.) My engine runs smoothly, but many posts at the ShopTalkforum, Type 4rum, have indicated that 32mm venturis are preferred. If you have 32mm venturis a suggested jetting from the HP Books Weber manual for 2000cc: 32mm venturis, 125 mains, 180 air corection, F16 emulsion tubes, and 55 idles. Or from the Performance and Tuning Webers manual for 1750cc: 32mm venturis, 120 mains, 160 air corection, F11 emulsion tubes, and 50 idles. Good luck, Mike |
