Cylinder Sealing Rings - Once More
After searching though the forum I didn't find any recent comments on this topic. So I was wondering what seems to be the latest thought on using or not using the cylinder sealing rings at the tops and bottoms of the cylinders on the Type IV 2.0 motor?

The most popular school of thought at this point is to leave them out, and lap the cylinders to the head. Note that leaving them out will increase the compression ratio somewhat. You'll have to do the measurements and crunch the numbers yourself to see the effect for your engine, as relatively small differences (e.g., combustion chamber volume) can have surprisingly large effects on compression ratio.
