914 "gang colors"...
Fellow fanatics,
The new season is coming up, and my local (east coast) chapter of the PCA is naturally swamped with 911'ers, us 'teeners are a distinct minority. I would desperately like to have a shirt or two proclaiming my allegiance to the dark side for all those club events, just to tweak a few noses and / or start (friendly) conversations. Can't seem to find anything out here in cyberspace. Saw a window sticker once, something to the effect of "autocross weapon of champions", but can't even find that anymore. Anybody got any leads they can share, am I just looking for fun in all the wrong places??? Also, if one were to come up with some original "914 apparel", are the legal beagles lurking out there likely to confiscate my 914? |

The legal questions are very interesting... I don't think there are any with a T-shirt using original artwork or public domain.
Likewise, you can go to http://www.914fan.net and look around for the "Autocross Weapon of Champions" GIF and take it to Kinko's or whatever and make a sticker. I'm pretty sure Tim Jones wouldn't mind--but you should probably ask him first (just about anything @914fan.net that doesn't bounce should get to him). You can E-mail Glen Sager a914luvr@earthlink.net and ask him about his 914 shirts. I don't know if he has any left, but he might. And enough demand might get him to print another run... I picked up one or two nice 914-oriented shirts at Parade in Sacramento in 2000. If you're going to the Boise one, you might be able to snag another one or two. And there are other places around, too. --DD

I bought several sweat shirts at the Porsche parade in sacramento and they had a pretty nice embroidered graphic of the 914 and a nice 914 logo underneath. If I can remember, I'll take a picture tonight and post it so you can use it as a guide and have someone with a computer operated sewing machine make several. I remember looking at the labels, but could find no copyright notices or PCA wording so I imagine they would be easy to replicate. Another alternative is to take a nice digital shot of your car, then make a transfer with the iron-on paper and do your own. Is this illegal???Well Willow Springs (and other tracks) make tee shirts with your car on them and I haven't heard of any copyright flaps?

Or you could go to www.ArtechnikA.com and order a custom shirt with the car, car color, and lettering of your choice. You can provide a picture of your car for artist use or let him use his a stock line item (as attached here). Cones can be added at no cost. Just my $.02

Glenns' shirts are an original design (a 914/6 he restored). I have three (one is greasy for work).
He also did a polo (golf shirt).
