I will be truly impressed when you tell us that you have all three of them running at the same time.

Well...Then I will try and impress you in about 1-2months...
I have a Raby engine for the green car on the way (my toy) The gold car has a 2.0 sitting on the garage floor ready to put in after we do some rust clean up (Dad's toy) And the red car has a running 1.8 in it right now, we are just now starting to do the interrior/exterior stuff now (for sale toy) And finally the blue car in the back is our lucky parts car...was once a good well kept car untill the passenger side longitudinal rusted away...so now we have alot of good usable parts! And you wanna know the best way to piss a woman off...I think you can guess that one...gotta get back to work! Yours, Tony |

Looks like a nice vintage trunk rack on the red one.

Yep...I actually have another one for the green car (it has the holes in the trunk an all) but since it is part race/part street car, I really see no need in putting it on :P I'd feel silly driving around a car with a roll cage AND a trunk rack :P

I dunno.... The rack is a good way of getting your race tires to and from the track... I've even seen a 914 with a roll bar (maybe a cage?) and a roof rack with tires on it!!

Dave,
That is a good point...maybe I will install that rack after all :P We will see...it would be fun stomping a ricer with a luggage rack instead of a wing on the back of my car :P Tony |

Yoh...well, this is what happens when you do things before you have enough information. Yes the green car did have a "fresh" 2.0 in it, however, I very soon started to have engine problems (caughing back though the carbs mostly) I thought the carbs needed a rebuild...fine...spent a day doing that and what did I find - nothing - clean as a whistle.
So I did some more reading and searching...finally discovered I had a bad head leak...bad went to worse...and I decided that I was tired of dealing with engine problems and I happended to be in the right place to throw down some bucks and get Jake to build me a 2056. the way I figure it is that now I can concentrate on the suspension and other stuff myself and have a reliable engine to play with. For those who want to know the engine has bascially the same specs as the 2056 he put together for that yellow ghia that had the kevlar 911 shroud. I think its still on his page somewhere. I cant wait!!! About 2 more weeks! I wish I had found these boards about 6months before I had that engine built...it would have saved me enough money that i could have had jake build me that 2270 instead :P But oh well live and learn I guess...now that shads cylinders are out... talk about pissing off your wife "you spent how much???" sorry fo the book, Tony |

Hi Tony,
sorry to hear that... … any assumptions what happened – I mean why it started to leak. ... that engine did not even remotely live to its expected lifespan... It also concerns me quiet a bit since some of the machine work for my engine was done at the place that rebuild your engine. At the same time my engine is close to the specs of yours (milder cam, different P/C)... In case you want to part with your “wistel clean” Dell Orto’s … … I could use some!!! Patrick

The 914 RoadGlue meet last Saturday started as a simple breakfast we hold each month in the San Jose, CA area, where we usually have 5 or 6 cars turn out. One of the local 914 owners then coordinated and promoted a drive through the local hills and 30+ cars participated as you can see. He just took the initiative to make it happen (thanks Phil!)
Other 914 owners in other cities and states are encouraged to do the same. An individual can do it even without an organized group like www.RoadGlue.com. We are held together pretty much just by the website as a central communication point, but meet promotions could also be done on this website or on Rennlist, or on your own webpage if people can find it. Just pick a regular day to meet for breakfast and promote it. You will likely be surprised at how many 914's show up in your area and the new friends you meet. Our breakfasts start at 9:14 am of course. ![]() |

CHA, keep an eye out for the letters "MUSR". This stands for Mid-US Ramble, and it happens every year. MUSR 2001 was held in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Even if you feel your local PCA doesn't "like" 914s, or you want to hang out just with 914 owners, the MUSR should give you that chance.
