Where to find CV bolt tool?
Anybody know where I can find a CV joint bolt driver? What is it technically called? It has 12 points, right? I seem to only find Torx-type drivers, and they have 6 points, I believe.
Thanks,

Ray,
I am sure that there are local sources, however I purchased one from Performance Products. Not sure if PP carries them. Good Luck Bob

Pelican has them as does most bug shops:
Use our removal tool to easily remove those pesky CV joint bolts. Avoid stripping your bolts, and spending wasted hours of cutting and grinding stripped bolts. 8mm tool for 12-point 'star-type' bolts. CV Joint Removal Tool, 12 point, 8mm Here is the link: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/9144/POR_9144_suspen_pg3.htm#item14

Thanks, Mike.
These are "triple square" bits, and ordinary Allen bits will usually just strip them out. Get the right tool for the job. Snap-On sells them, if you're lucky enough to have a truck stop by you. Many VW Bug shops also sell them--just ask for the "CV Joint Socket"; they should know what that means. They and thhe 911 also use these same funky bolts. --DD
