Cool A couple of pics from the McRoadglue tour

I used some "stitching" software to assemble the two following panoramic images from a bunch of individual photos. I hope you like 'em!

(Cross-post)

The 914 RoadGlue meet last Saturday started as a simple breakfast we hold each month in the San Jose, CA area, where we usually have 5 or 6 cars turn out. One of the local 914 owners then coordinated and promoted a drive through the local hills and 30+ cars participated as you can see. He just took the initiative to make it happen (thanks Phil!)

Other 914 owners in other cities and states are encouraged to do the same. An individual can do it even without an organized group like www.RoadGlue.com. We are held together pretty much just by the website as a central communication point, but meet promotions could also be done on this website or on Rennlist, or on your own webpage if people can find it.

Just pick a regular day to meet for breakfast and promote it. You will likely be surprised at how many 914's show up in your area and the new friends you meet.

Our breakfasts start at 9:14 am of course.

Ahem, its easy to jump to conclusions when all the facts are not known...

Mr. Silver 993 has not one, but two 914's at home, one being converted to a dedicated track car and the other a family heirloom from his Dad.

Definitely a 914 afficionado.

We did have a Boxter though and chided him for being a 914 wannabe...

Well, we managed to boot out the Boxster at the first corner!

One 914 had a bad time going around the corner in the wet and put a small dent in the door of the Boxster. The 914 in question was driven by the guy who had invited the Boxster owner along... Oops... And the 914 wound up "collecting" a signpost, too...

Poor guy--from talking to someone behind him, he wasn't doing anything stupid or trying to go too fast, either! The car just suddenly started to go around.

Hopefully both will be back on the road soon!

Oregon

Man that is great! Anyone in Oregon interested in getting together for one of these? I would gladly host it at my store.
(Main St. Pizza in Monmouth OR). Heck I'd even be willing to supply a few pizza's to kick things off!!! Anyone interested let me know & we'll set one of these up.

Awesome sight!!

That last picture is awesome. I wish I could see that many 914's at one time in person.

Maybe someday soon as more of us East-Coasters find this BBS.

That's CRAZY!! I've never seen that many 914's together, even when they were new at a dealership. Makes me long for the "San Diego" days (20+ years ago!). I've seen a few BBSers from the St. Louis area, but we'd have to pool from the Mississippi east to get that many in one spot at one time. I guess that's kind of the beauty of having one in the Midwest, they're so rare, half of the people that see it don't even know what it is! Nice to be unique!!

yea, that is a lot of 914's.......at a minimum, there was at least 4 people at the event as passangers that also have one or two 914's sitting at home for one reason or another

[broken exhaust stud ]

I really wished I could have driven my car to the event, but being a passanger is nice as well since you have someone to BS with.....

East Coast 9/14 get together

Kerry, I think my wife and I would be up for a East Coast get together, the 9/14 idea sounds kind of cool. I am already doing some work on my car to get ready for one long, 2 week, road trip this year. We are going to do Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Parkway in June. I could definitely see doing a second 3 or 4 day trip being fun. Our usual is just a Sunday drive.

Keep in touch (I'm the same guy from ShopTalk).

Jamie Rust,
I would drive down to Portland for a NWRoadglue. Maybe even JP Stein would show up! There are several other Seattle guys that might show up if they get their cars running (RustyWA!). There is a NW914Club but this year we didn't have a club meet.
Where would we drive to?
I know we were trying to have a meet at David Said's (Triad West) place this summer but it didn't happen. At one time David had 20 car of his own!
For Autox action come up to the PCA Autocross events that are held every month at Bremerton Raceway. They maybe moving to the new Seattle Raceway soon. There are atleast 8-10 914's that Autocross regularly.

Nw914 meet

It sound like we have alot of interest in a Nw914 meet. I look forward to more emails on this. I'm thinking some saturday in April for the meet. I will supply up to 10 pizza's for lunch if we have it at my store in Monmouth. Let's get together & have some fun. I'm open to any location though. I am willing to drive my 914
anywhere! Well almost anywhere. I am open to a warmer weather time also I just want to get something going. I hope to have more in the summer.
