Gauge issues.

My entire dash gauge system quit working, Tail lights too, but my head light work. No speedo, tac, fuel, or even volt meter, and temp gauge down the center consul too.. Is there a central fuse that runs everything?

The speedo is mechanical, so it should be completely independent of the electrical system.

Fuse #8, I think, powers the rest of the gauges. The stock fuses can be popped but still look OK at first glance. Take each fuse out of its holder; if it falls apart it was popped.

So I found that the fuse that runs my gauges, also runs my brake lights, and reverse lights. Apparently there is some short on the revers light system. As soon as I unplugged the switch at the tranny, and replaced the fuse all worked, until I replugged the line back into the tranny. The poof.... So at the moment to back-up lights, but I can see how much gas I have, and see my RPM...

Definitely time to start tracing the wires. My guess would be that the power and ground connections for the reverse lights are swapped at the taillight buckets. It's not that hard to do...

Had any bodywork done recently?
