quick ?'s

Two quick questions...

1) Where can I get the boot that goes from the airbox to the throttle body on a 1.8L?

2) When I removed this particular boot that goes from the airbox to the throttle I noticed some white oily substance inside of it. Any ideas what it can be?

Thanks

I would suggest checking with Pelican Parts. 888/280-7799 is the number, doesn't even cost you a cent.

Not sure if that part is still available for 1.8s or not.

The white oily substance might be oil and water, perhaps. Might be something else, like a rubber perservative like glycerine (or reputed preservative like WD-40).

Had a guy ask me if I would be able to help him change the waterpump on his 914 a few years ago. Said he called up the local parts place and they did not stock a water pump for a 914 .
I kind of chuckled and said : oh sure I can do that, want me to check the heater core as well ?"
opened the engine cover and there was a Mazda Rotary 13B .
He did not even know that engine did not belong in there .

which reminds me of the time I washed my car and was pulling out of my driveway and when I backed out my neighbor yelled " Hey Stop ! Your car is leaking coolant I think you may have a radiator leak ". To which I yelled back..." If this sucker is leaking coolant I got major problems ! " and drove away laughing....with the roof off !!

by the way the water was coming from the headlight area that was filled with leaves from sitting so long

Since you don't want to receive emails, I'll post it here!

1.8 air intake boot:

Glenn Sager ( a914luvr@earthlink.net ) may have one on a parts car and/or I may have one ( ronmeier@rccauto.com ). Both of us are located in Riverside.
