engine ID.
One more question please. How do I know if I have a real Porsche 914 motor and not a VW bus motor? The car is a 76 2 liter.

It should have a serial number starting with "GC" in front of the oil filler. The heads should have three studs holding the intake runner pipes onto each head. The spark plugs should exit through the vertical side part of the engine tin, instead of the flat top part.
There are other ways, but those are pretty straightforward ones. --DD
