Snake oil, this guy has squat, you need to go see it and touch it before you bid. Take a look at his feed back. He's got some problems. YMMV |

Wow, You're right. I haven't really seen that much bad feedback on one person before. Speaking of Ebay, does anyone have any horror stories?

I've used ebay to buy 4 items for my '73 and have been very pleased with what I received until now. Last week I received a drivers door mirror that was advertised as "like new, no scratches". When the mirror arrived it had one dent on the piece that the mirror is mounted to along with one small section of the 90 degree section having exposed brass? from being polished excessivley in this area.
I contacted the seller and he offered to take it back or reduce the price. I responded that I would keep it at a reduced price but that was 3 days ago. No word back from this guy to date. His feedback had no negative comments so that is not always a sure way to know your dealing with a straight up seller. My plans are to give this guy a few more days to respond back to me. If I hear no response, I'll take further action. I will not expose this guy at this time but the clock is ticking. BTW, I gave $70 for this mirror. Not a true horror story but still a pain in the a$$ to deal with.

...just my opinion ok! I have not been burned on there yet, and people have been great to deal with so far. One guy sent me half of what I was supposed to get on an item (seat belts). He claimed that his man messed up the order when shipping, so we will see if he comes through with me, as he guarenteed he would. ...if not, he will get negative feedback!

I don't think this applies in the 914 parts area, but you do have to be careful about people selling big ticket items. Look at more than just the feed back. Look at the transactions and whether they were buyers or sellers.
I was looking to pickup a gemstone. The seller had all positive feed back, but it was all purchases and they were all $5 and $10 dollar items. And the Person "looked" like they were a big time outfit, but they didn't take mastercard or visa and no phone number. I watched the aution, but didn't bid. I'm waiting to see what materialized from it. James |

Reg,
Just to clear a few things up. "how would he know about the dent?".......hell, it was in his hands. It was the first thing I saw when opening the box and would think anyone familar with car parts and who went to the trouble of polishing this piece would clearly see it. This dent does not look like it was hit with a hammer, more like the tip of a pin. It almost matches the one I have on my car and similar to the dents I've seen on the same piece on at least 5 other mirrors advertised on ebay..........the difference here is that the other guys pointed out/described the dent and sold these for less than $20. He did offer to take it back or reduce the price but has not responded to my post in 3 days.........not a good sign but like I said, I'll give him a few more days. To further expand, the condition to refund my money was if I sent it back insured, 2nd day air and when he received it, I'd get my money. I paid using Paypal where he got his money prior to shipping product. I expect the same on the return. Why should I ship this piece and then wait to see if I get my money? I guess the BS description has me leary. The ad on this piece read "914 Mirror Like New!!!!!!!!" That was the bait that sold me on this piece and the offer to take it back or reduce the price sounds good, but the lack of contact and the initial false discription as to condition makes me a little leary. Where I come from a man is as good as his word. Up until now, I believe people like this still exist and will continue to use ebay for small items.

Hmmmmm. Sounds remarably like my ebay dealings with Automobile Atlanta from a few years back...
"Heat Exchangers: You'll get good hot heat from the babies" I was sent swiss cheese. My only remedy: Send them back, and they would refund my money _and_ I would no longer be able to do business with them. While I don't really _want_ to do business with them. Sometimes, they are the last port in the storm. They have the part when others don't. :::sigh::: Definitely a love-hate relationship... James

Someone did. Looks awful good for $6800! Complaints on seller are a bit worrisome though. Hope the buyer lets us know.

when i first started on this 914 merry-go- round( years ago)i bought from AA and my only real complaint was the lack of a 1-800 phone#.waiting for the next available service rep on my long distance nickle. this was explained as a method to keep prices down. at the end of the recorded greeting they told rotary phone users to stay on line, that got me through immediately. but now to read that they will not do business if you return a unsatisfactory part!,the last few drops must be swirling down the drain as i type this. i'm sure G.H 3rd or some of his people must lurk in here, they might want to defend their co.

I doubt they would defend theselves here.
But here is the proof! Purchase was summer of 2000. Notice the Fanstastic packing job as well! I guess newsprint is expensive in Georgia. James

UNBELIEVABLE, they should be ashamed.i would be embarassed to give those away even if i paid for shipping. i hope you called your credit card co., disallowed the purchase, called AA and told them to pickem up. i would'nt care if they did not want anymore of my bus. they would'nt get it. how much did they charge you for those pieces of dung?

It was an ebay auction. I think it was $35 plus shipping. Yeah, we all have an AA story. My rule is: Never Never Never buy used from AA! Which is why we all love Pelican _so_ much!
Wayne? Ya listening? We love ya! James Ok, maybe not _that_ much!

The guy who I bought the mirror from just deposited a $16 refund into my paypal account. The auction for this mirror was won at $66 and $3 shipping for a total of $69 and change. I told the seller I thought the mirror was worth $50 to me. What I expected was a $20 refund and it looks like he took the cheap o way out..........when I meant it was worth $50, that is ALL I thought it was worth......not $50 and shipping.
Guess I'll have to say I'm somewhat satisfied. It's not really a issue of money. Restoring one of these 30 year old cars can be quite time consuming and I want to only replace parts one time. Think I'll just mark this guy up as one not to do business with in the future. No bad feedback will be given by me and I'm done with this one. Gives the term "you get what you pay for" more strength. Ater I finish this restor with black paint, I have a feeling that dented mirror will become a paperweight. We live and learn.

interesting, you post a complaint here and your account gets credited. not posting feedback on ebay gives future bidders nothing to base their decission on. you paid for the right to post your opinion. choosing not to post gives the less than forthright seller the oportunity to do the same thing again.
