fuel injection
my car won't start.the fuel pump dosent work when the key is on..i jumped it with a couple of wires and it worked that way. the relays work i think. when i pull it out and put it back the pump will run for a couple of seconds but thats it. does any body have any ideas. thanks in advance

On the 1.8, the pump is controlled by a switch in the air flow meter. To get the pump to run, you have to turn the ignition on and move the "barn door" in the meter.
On the 1.7 and 2.0, the pump is controlled by the ECU through the pump relay. And another relay powers the ECU, so both have to be working to get the pump to run. Check on the 914 Fan Page http://www.914fan.net for a Tech Article called "914 fuel system" or something close to that. This is a thorough article on troubleshooting the D-jet 914's fuel pump control system. If you have a carbed car, then what you check depends on how the installer set it up. --DD |
