L-Jet vacuum question

Hello,

recently I've started to restore the L-Jet system that came with an engine I bought about a month ago. As an opener, I have to say that I've never seen an L-Jet system before, but from reading a lot of the information online I think I have a good idea of how it works and it's put together.

One problem that is stumbling me now is the following. The throttle body that came with my system originally had two vacuum fittings to connect to the distributor. However, the smaller one (manifold vacuum) is broken off. What should I do about this? Potential options I see are trying to drill out the old copper fitting and try to press a new one in (no idea how hard it is to do this); trying to rig somehow a vacuum line to the broken fitting; or taking the vacuum input from somewhere else (where?).

Do you guys have any suggestions on what's best? Has anyone dealt with a similar issue before?

Thanks,
Andrei.

You can plug it and leave the hose from the distributor dashpot that used to go to it open to air. As long as the dashpot isn't leaking (if it is, fix it!) the mixture should not be changed. Depending on which fitting that was (advance is just barely "upstream" of the closed position of the throttle plate, retard is a bit "downstream" of it) the effects of not having it hooked up should not be very noticeable.

If you want to fix it, drill out the broken fitting and put a new one in. I don't think the originals were copper, so this may have been repaired once already...
