That's what I'm looking for. Is pelican selling something like that? A 73 is reasonable shape (as long as it's not too bad, I'll work with it).

Because, even if I have to deal with some rust down the road, it's worth it because I can put any kind of engine I want in it.

Thanks guys, I read it and I can't use it for a few reasons: 1) it's one year too new and 2) it has no title.

I need a 73 or older chassis only. The smog gestapo in CA will make my life miserable otherwise.

73 and older with a clean title and even some rust is much easier to deal with than Gray (der fuhrer) Davis, Environmental-Tree Hugging (gestapo) groups et al.

Kurt, kinda tangential here, but that Weltmeister chip you list on your signature - I'm assuming this is for the DME in your '84 3.2.

Did you notice any difference with it? would you buy it again? Do you have stock induction and exhaust plumbing?

It will take you awhile to do the swap/restoration.

A clean 914 of any year is a real find.

1974 cars become smog exempt in January 2004.

Thats only 16 months from now, I would not worry about smoggability issues on a 74 car given those parameters.

If Wayne or PP is the legal owner, and they have merely misplaced the title, they can get a new title from DMV. Should not be an issue

I do have the weltmeister chip, and it did definitely made a difference, reducing my 0-60 times from just over 6 seconds no matter what I did, to what they are now...but that was also, new injectors, bursch, short shifter. Small things. Those small things added up I suspect to the final numbers.

You have to solder the chip in on an 84 which is not fun, but very doable.

However, you'll need to get 93 octane fuel or it'll preignite on you, which is a pain. I run 91, and it seems OK most of the time.
