puzzled

i need help! finally got this car running. it runs great at an idle but when i take it on the road i falls on its face. i just installed a pertronix ignition and duel carbs.
the timing is on. the carbs are synced. any ideas would be helpful cu im lost.

p.s. im thinkin on sellin the car when it runs right

A plugged-up fuel filter or plugged-up fuel screen would limit the fuel to enough for idle, but not enough for driving under load.

I assume that even with a Pertronix you need to have it timed correctly, perhaps I'm wrong. If it isn't timed correctly it would lack power.

Is your firing order correct? This was the problem with my friends 914. What is you fuel PSI? Also, if your venturi's (choke's) are to big will cause car to fall on it face when you stand on the throttle. BTW, I'm running 36mm chokes with 2.5 fuel PSI. Hope this helps.

puzzled

+1 on what RSrocket said. If you're coming from FI to Carbs there will be a difference in driveability. The dual carbs will work better if the cam is upgraded also.
