Power problems

i just synced my carborators and timed my 2.0 and im having majoy power train problems. Im running a 2.0 with duel 40mm dells. i can rev the engine up to about 5000rpm and slowly let out the clutch and the car vibrates violently. So bad that it kicks itself out of gear sometimes. if i let out on the clutch fater the engine will die. one i get it moving it accelerates slowly but when its time to put it in 3rd gear it doesn't like it. The car simply cant accell anymore.
What could be eating up my power? what can i do to get more power ot of it. I have tried advancing the timing but i feel like im forgetting to do something.
the engine compression is low, but a week ago i had it acceling all the way up though 5th gear and running well (with a massive intake leak)

any suggestions??

Have you ruled out the clutch as the problem? When you get going, will the engine not gain rpm or does it gain rpm without accelerating? If it is not the clutch, start with the basics: How does the engine run with no load? Does it have a miss or idle rough? Does it accelerate smoothly with no load? First check your all of your electrical connections (plug wires, distr. cap, coil wire). Make sure your vacuum is hooked up to our distributor advance (if applicable). If it misses pull plug wires until you find the bad cylinder. If the electrical appears ok, I would start looking at the fuel system. I would look for a clogged jet. (I don't speak Dell somone else needs to jump in here.)

the clutch is new and the dells are fresh rebuilt. with no load it idels and accelerates fine after its warmed up a little. it just acts like its running 15 hp. it wont accelerate on a hill or in 3rd gear. It did a fiew days before with massive intake leaks (didnt know my dad didnt tighten the carbs down when i adjusted them and tried it) im lost

replace the points, or at least check for pitting, check dwell and timing. pull out the plugs see if they are fouled. see that the vac advance on the distributor isn't hooked up backwards. Confirm that the timing is dead on, and nut 90 or 180 degrees out of phase. Make sure the dizzy cap is on right.

Look for debris in the fuel filters and tank. check to see if the fuel pump is putting out enough volume of fuel.

Spray some carb cleaner in the carbs. otherwise maybe take the top off the carbs to see if the bowls are full of crap aor if something got clogged or loose.

dunno just guessing
