Hey Im thinking of relocating my battery to the rear trunk. It would be flush with the trunk floor. (and hang below) .Does this sound like a good idea or bad? .Has anybody done this or heard of somebody doing it? My mechanic buddy says it can be done cleanly. But I don't know. Input please!!!

Yes, it has been done. No it is not a problem if done right.

Battery relocated to rear trunk
I moved my battery to the rear trunk about 4 years ago. I have had no problems and it cost less then $100. The black plastic cover is from an aftermarket RV Battery Box and can be purchased at any auto parts store for under $20. My targa top fits no problem

Why I moved the battery to the rear trunk
I needed more room on that side of the Engine bay to add a second hot air fan. I live in the midwest and it gets cold at night. With the second blower I get plenty of heat. I do not recommend this to anyone who wants to keep their teener pure stock. This does bring the value down if you are going to resale.

![]() Anyways, if i were to relocate my battery, i'd probably go with the front trunk. I'm already stashing my spare in the rear trunk anyways. Plus, that way all that weight would be in the lowest possible place. ![]()
