Upgrading to Boxster Brakes

With all regards to Sammyg, my 914 race car needs better brakes than the S-types I'm currently competing. There are myriad options: A-types, Outlaws (currently from Outlaw or Pegasus), or Boxster brakes. Questions I have not found the answers to: Do the Boxster calipers require an adapter (currently using 911 turbo front struts and 3.5" spacing on the mounting ears)? Will these calipers fit under 15" wheels (monetarily cannot make the jump to hyperspace and 16s or 17s, at this time)? And, will I have to change my master cylinder if these other questions are answered affirmatively (19mm master cylinder, currently)? I realize that a change to at least Carrera rotors is in the offing, so, any guesses, SWAGs, or just plain WAGs?

Don, the only WAG I might offer is that I don't believe that they will fit under 15" wheels. If you have the time, you might cross post this to the 911 board. There is a guy over there - Bill Verburg - who's very knowledgeable about P-car brakes, and very helpful, too.

Don,
I know that Rich Johnson has some kits for putting Boxster brakes w/ Carerra rotors on 914s. I think they need the 16" wheels though You could contact him and see what's needed...maybe just using the calipers and not the bigger rotors.

A buddy of mine has converted to Boxster brakes. Front what I remember, he had 15" wheels on his car. I will check this

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I'll muster up my courage, and head off to the "dark side" and ask the 911 doods. . .Again, thanks for the input!

So, I posted on the 911 board. My post has been viewed by multiple people with NO answers, guesses, expositions, WAGs. Guess you can't ask for any info over there, even though I have owned an SC since 1983, if it pertains to a 914. What a bunch of bozos.

I would imagine that with Boxter brakes on the front that a 23mm m/c would be required. I have BMW's on front/rear of my race car and the 23mm m/c was necessary to prevent a super long pedal travel. The alternative would be a custom pedal assembly from someone like CNC brakes in San Diego that would replace both pedals or just one. Good luck.
