914-6 GT bumper colour

Can anyone tell me if the glassfibre bumpers on 914-6 GT cars were gloss black or matt black. This is if they were not body cloured of course.thanks

Different cars used different colors. A number of them had the left half of the bumper painted a different color than the right half of the bumper, even! The Marathon de la Route cars in particular did this; it was an easy way to tell them apart.

Tons of GT pics can be found here: 914-6 GT's Photo Galleries at pbase.com

I owned the #5 Sunoco car.

My recollection is that mine were more towards a semi-gloss black.

The one thing I learned about the GT's was that nothing was etched in concrete.

Each car was unique since they were not mass produced and took on individual personalities based on the owner and anticipated use.

Short of curb feelers and a continental kit(LOL) nothing you would do could be deemed "incorrect".

Tom,
that's great insight from an experienced owner! Thanks!

This is a real GT that belongs to a friend.

This is the bumper for my GT Clone, Gary Stratton did the paint & bodywork and researched (called the guy who owned the real car whose bumpers I copied, BTW, this is a steel bumper Gary converted )

So, as others have stated, it is wide open when it comes to the colors.
