914 Drop link bushings-Vacuum lines

I need some help with the installation of my bushings into the drop links for my rear sway bar. The comments I have found tell of it's difficulty, but not how they ended up getting those buggers in there. I have tried pressing them in only to see the bushing start to collapse under pressure. Well greased with graphite they just won't go.... How about a diagram of the 73, 2.0 stock injection vacuum lines. Can't find one anywhere. Thanks Folks.

They started collapsing, but with some help (prying with a screwdriver and so on) I was able to press them in using a vise.

Thank You Dave. The FI diagrams are just what I needed. The bushings, well I'm looking for that little trick someone out there knows.

I've seen Jeff's pages before, but I'm almost always surprised at how much information is there every time I go back! (Jeff is also local to me, he's a really nice guy!)

You can buy the bushings from Pelican: Porsche 914 Suspension - Page 6

I put a quarter over the bushing and pressed it on with a gear puller. Ruined the quarter, but they popped right on

Bushings installation....boil 2 cups of water....remove from heat....put the bushings in the hot water...let sit for 15 mins or so...they will become pliable...push in with a press/ vise or even the quarter...yes it works.. done it many times and just did a set last week...

interestingly I have removed my rear sway bar links, and the car handled much better. I dont like the handling the rear sway gives. Front bars are good, but rear not so in my opinion.

let us know how you like it when you get it attached
