Ultimate 914 Accessories...
Other than a six cylinder, (got one of those too) what accessories are there for the 914 that are on the must-have ultimate list?
- Center console - 914-6 Temp gauge - Saratoga top - 914-6 calipers - 911 front end suspension - Early deep dish alloys or gas burners (got both) - Chrome bumpers - Y-adapter in engine compartment - original radio maybe? - Sway bars (got those) - Trunk / ski rack - (had one, didn't like it) - Overriders (saw this in a catalog didn't like it). Link: http://www.pelicanparts.com/literature/literature_914-2.htm What are mag-type wheel covers? They are listed there... -Wayne

- 904 style triple cluster gauge
or Getty Dash (Both would be overkill) - 914-6 GT sport seats - 914-6 GT rear caliper spacers to allow for ventilated rear disks, while maintaining the stock parking brake and calipers: http://www.stazak.com/914/gt/brakes/brakes.html Hey I can dream! Justin Wayne - if you want someone to take two of those 15x6 deep- dish alloys off you hands, just let me know.

I've seen the wheel covers. They're plastic covers that make it look like your standard steel wheels are some kind of alloy wheel.
My personal choices for 914 accessories: 1) Sway bars 2) Beefy rear springs 3) Fire extinguisher (very important!!) 4) Sport-oriented shocks 5) Adjustable rear ride height In the "slightly more advanced" list: - Roll bar or Cage - Hoosier sticky tires on 6x15" wheels (class limit) - Camber/Caster gauges - Toe-measurement setup - Air tank (for tires, air tools, etc.) - Nomex suit (including gloves) - Helmet ...Guess what I like to do with my 914? (When I can...) --DD

- 8.0:1 pistons and cylinders
- Permatune ignition with crankfire (wish I had crankfire) - Better cams and ported heads (not allowed in Prepared) - Real Fuchs five-spoke wheels - A brake proportioning valve on the FRONT brakes (my rears don't even get hot on the track, but also not allowed) - 911 guage cluster (saw one in a 914 - AWESOME!) - sideshifter (Pretty please!) - VDO oil temp and pressure guages - Kerry Hunter exhaust with no end cap. Sounds awesome, but way loud on the street Last one - 2.7 liter six, Motec FI, headers, expansion pipes but no other mufflers, GE80 cams, twin plug, 10.5:1 compression, titanium valve gear. Maybe 250 HP, 210 ft.lbs of torque, and 7500 RPMs. That's what I dream about. You said ultimate wish list...

I would have to go with :
* Limited slip * GT flares * Euro driving lights * Having Ruf turn your car into the 914R

All those toys above are for the racer crowd...not everyone is a racer.
Some people (like me!) appreciate the 914 in its purest form...stock, but fully accessorized. My ultimate 914 accessory list would include: * Real euro front light buckets * Real rear fog lamp (and dash switch?) * Power side windows * Saratoga top (mine will be FS soon...) * OEM grey FI harness boots (got a few sets...) * Headlight washers (anyone haunt swedish junkyards?) * Euro driving lights * Full leather interior (someday) * Vintage Becker Mexico radio (ala 916...got it) * Windshield with integral antenna * OEM mudflaps...(not to mount just to verify they exist...) And the cremes de la cremes...a permanent steel top w/ sunroof, oval oil cooler cutout on front bumper and the flat eight like Piechs gold car. |

One of those aftermarket coffee cup holders that fit the dash.
I hate driving to the autox and end up spilling coffee in the center console. A 916 gas gauge set up. Those headlite washers! Geoff

One of those 914 umbrellas made by Perry Kheil (sp?)
Alt with internal voltage regulator. You can then ditch the relay board. Acces to the oil filter is now easier. GT engine lid Sport muffler |

My first 914 was all decked out and I thought I was hot snot.
Bilstiens Recaros Great Stereo I once took my girl for a cool mountain jaunt. But on our way home, I was put in a situation that showed me what the ultimate 914 accessories really are... A full set of trunk tools, a single jack stand and spare clutch cable. Live and learn. kevin 1975 1.8L atlanta, ga |
