Question No more "R" compound tires for us?

There is a move from the Federal Government that would make it very difficult and/or expensive to purchase "R" compound tires for track events and for autocross. Please follow this link and would you please support the proposed change to this rule.

It appears that time is running short on the comment period. All of the manufacturers will be facing this same issue with the small production run tires - Goodyear, BFGoodrich (if they decide to make "R" tires again), Yokohama, Toyo etc. Not just Hoosier.

If what I have read is true, Hoosier is about the only one who will be affected. They seem to be the only ones building a DOT-rated tire on a race tire carcass, while the rest are building them on street-tire carcasses. People seem to believe that the street-tire-based ones will not have much if any problem meeting the new standards.

Dunno if it's true or not; just what I have read on the Rennlist Racing e-mail list.
