There is a move from the Federal Government that would make it very difficult and/or expensive to purchase "R" compound tires for track events and for autocross. Please follow this link and would you please support the proposed change to this rule.
----- Original Message ----- http://www.hoosiertire.com/fmvsshlp.HTM It appears that time is running short on the comment period. All of the manufacturers will be facing this same issue with the small production run tires - Goodyear, BFGoodrich (if they decide to make "R" tires again), Yokohama, Toyo etc. Not just Hoosier.

If what I have read is true, Hoosier is about the only one who will be affected. They seem to be the only ones building a DOT-rated tire on a race tire carcass, while the rest are building them on street-tire carcasses. People seem to believe that the street-tire-based ones will not have much if any problem meeting the new standards.
Dunno if it's true or not; just what I have read on the Rennlist Racing e-mail list. --DD
