Best sources/prices for 6 conversion

We have a client requesting his 914- 4 becomes a 3.2 powered 6. Who are the best sources for the tank, "metal", mounts, oil cooler and lines, heater boxes/headers?
Thanks
Dave

Pelican can supply the tank, OEM lines, sheetmetal and the Rich Johnson bulkhead mount (the only one to buy IMHO), headers etc.

With a 3.2, you will need an oil cooler up front, racerpartswholesale is a great resource for the AN oil lines.

The front oil cooler will need a vent through the front trunk as you know and that means cutting the body and depending on how big the ducting is may require moving the spare to the rear or getting a smaller spare. I'd highly recommend using Earl's braided hose for the run to/from the cooler and the cost of that will probably be shocker to your customer, but neopreme is not the way to go as you know. The cost in San Diego including a pretty good engine is $12,000 or so the last I heard.

If you want to use the 914's transmission (much easier than converting a 915 tranny!), you'll need the "adaptor" flywheel that bolts to a 3.0+ motor and which also fits in the 901 bellhousing. If you're keeping the DME (tougher to do than swapping on carbs, but better IMHO) then you'll need a flywheel with provisions for the crank position sensor. I think we can get those.

There are other sources for the parts, but for obvious reasons I won't mention them...

I will say one thing, though. There is a very inexpensive source for "complete -6 conversion kits". And from what I have read in a few places, you get what you pay for from them. There have been enough complaints about their customer service that I would think several times about using their stuff, even if I didn't work for Pelican.
