Bad Cam Bearings? Advice needed!

I'm in mid-rebuild and was about to install the cam. I unpacked my new Kolbenschmidt cam bearings and noticed that on one of the six shells, the one with the thrust surfaces, is actually rough to the touch and coppery-colored on the surface that mates with the cam journal and on the thrust surfaces themselves. The backc of the bearing and the other five half-shells look 'normal'. I thought it was a bit corroded, so I opened the second brand new set I happened to have and they are the same.

Is this normal? I will post pics later today if needed.

Many thanks for any assistance - this has halted my already glacial progress.

I'd ask this question in the Type 4um on the Shoptalk Forums website. http://www.shoptalkforums.com

FYI from Jake Raby on the ShopTalk forums.

'The bearings are fine, those are NOS...a really big score, go with them..'
