Spring Perch On Old Konis

Hi guys. In process of performing a major overhaul of the suspension and brakes on the teener. I pulled the rear Koni shocks (dead and leaking) and plan to replace them with Boges. My question is, will the spring perches from the Konis work on the Boges? I am going back with new stock springs and have not received my order for the Boges from PP yet.

TIA

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I am doing just what you did and have removed the stock Koni's only to find the Boge rear shocks are about 1/2 inch smaller in diameter and the Koni spring perches will not interchange. Anyone have an opinion other than stay with the Koni"s?

Huey: I don't believe Konis were ever stock equipment on a 914. Boges were though. Konis were always an aftermarket performance upgrade. So I guess to answer both of your questions, NO, the spring perches will not interchange between the two types of shocks. But if I'm not mistaken, the new Boges will come with a permanently mounted, fixed spring perch. The Konis have an adjustable perch. So if you are restoring back to original stock equipment, your new shock and spring combo will simply bolt into place. (You'll need a spring compressor to mount the springs to the shocks though.)

I thought Konis had a lifetime guarantee?

To the original purchaser...

I think they can be rebuilt, though, you (whoever may want to try)can try checking with Koni USA.

Huey - I never got and answer, but did figure it out. The lower spring perches for Konis and Boge are different. It is the diameter of the hole and little "nubs" that hold the perch in place. I ended up calling Parts Heaven and getting some used perches for about $50.

Hope this helps, and watch out for those spring compressors!
