914/6 on Ebay

There's a 914/6 on e-bay. Looks pretty clean. What a clean, original 914/6 worth these days?

Damn! I wish I had the cash right now. That looks like it could be a nice car.

If that car is as the seller represents, I would estimate the price should be between $18K - $19K. (unless of course eBay lunacy takes over)

"A few small specs of rust just starting on fender"

Hmmm. Would like to see the car, or a PPI before placing a bid.

Nice looking car - wonder what exhaust that is, it's not stock, and looks like he hacked the rear valence to fit it.

if this is the car I saw at Hershey...? Then it has been hit fairly hard in the passenger side front. Note the repair dimples on the front rubber bumper trim. Fit of the body panels left alittle to be desired. Passenger side headlight bucket was "bent" as well as

Note: no picture to show off the "perfect" trunk spaces. hhhmmmm?

Potential bidders should question...good luck

Scott, just ciurious...what do you mean by "repair dimples" on the front bumper trim? If the front bumper trim was affected by an accident, wouldn't you just unscrew it from the bumper and put on a new one? They're pretty routinely available. And if you mean repairs to the bumper itself, that bumper rubber is pretty stiff and thick stuff, can't imagine bumper tweaks would show through that way....

I've had bumper trim develop waves and dots just from age. I also have a spare rear rubber trim piece right now with a couple of deep gouges in it, so if there is a way to refurbish it, I'd appreciate knowing.

Does anyone know the size of wheels used on this car just by looking at picture? That car has the look I'm after when I get to converting to 5 lug.

I've seen pics of original 6 cylinder 914s and the 14" wheels used appear smaller than what is on the car on ebay.

Tried contacting seller to find out but no reply.

Thanks,

John

E-Bay 914-6

Guy's I was with Scott at Hershey when he looked at that car, everything he said was right on. The owner said he inherited it from his father who passed away, and would never entertain the thought of selling. hmmmmmm, and was going to return it to concour condition this year. I pointed out the dimples in the front bumper, and he got the subject on the engine quickly and moved to the rear or the car even quicker. Anybody interested should have it inspecded by some one before spending the amount of money it looks like it will take to buy it. just my 2 cents Dave

914-6 on ebay

Holly Krap, thats my OLD car!! You guys are missing the 'minor' detail in the listing....
Leather interior...
Only two words but they are a mouthful, the car had/has leather covered seats and rear back pad and door panels, the car was from florida had a huge a/c condensor under it super ice cold.
BUT
Car was badly rusted at one point AND badly wrecked at another, not sure if the subsequent owner fixed the car, as he is no longer contactable...
Car was owned by a broker in florida who spent HUGE money on it, but they really took him....
I am NOT the one selling the car.

The whole thing is kinda wierd...

I sent the guy an email specifically asking about the battery tray, right rear suspension area and he replied with a bunch of photos from the interior, but no comment on what I asked.

The car photographs well, but that's always a tricky one. Scott/Dave....did you check out the body structure on the right side of the car....suspension and right front accident damage?

The waviness of the rub strips is just a sign of deterioration of the rub strip....they get that way with age and it shouldn't be understood as accident evidence.

Strange no one has bid yet...seems like others may know about this car, too.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Mike

Hey Mike,

Don't know anything about that car at all, but in my quest for my latest 'teener I experienced the frustration of asking specific questions about a car on e-bay and being given a completely different answer and a strange set of pics.

Many times the seller gets inundated with questions and sends out a bulk reply which covers some of the multitude of queries. Keep asking until you get an answer you are comfortable with.

Also, when it takes 2-3 clarification questions to get a straight answer there is usually a problem....
