Large rubber plugs

I removed the big ugly black bumpers on my 75 and replaced them with the early chrome bumpers. I am trying to find a large rubber plug 2 1/8" inside diameter, to fill the holes left by the bumper shocks being removed. The holes are located on ther front clip behind the chrome bumpers next to the fog lights. Anybody know where to get some??
Thanks

Craig,

Have you considered a rubber freeze plug or plumbers plug? Not sure if the stud on these would cause interferance on your car but may work if you can't find what your looking for.

I looked at those. Not what I have in mind. The one I want is more like the plug at the bottom of the front clip where you see
all little holes with the plugs in them.

are the plugs you need the same as the ones that fill the 9 holes on the bottom of the front clip? on that subject, what was the purpose of those holes other than them eventualy letting water in the front trunk?

Yes Kevin they are similar. Do not remove the plugs at the bottom. They are very hard to get back in.

boxstr, the reason i asked was because i still have 9 on a rusted roller in my carport. the question remains, why did P put 9 1&1/2" holes in the front of these cars?

Those 9 holes were for the front (trunk) mounted oil cooler you see on 914-6 GT cars. The GT cars had a cutout in the bottom of the bumper and the top of the front valance to let air in throught he 9 holes to the trunk mouted oil cooler.

Regards,

Karl

They may have been used during the construction of the car. Access for welders, paint drain holes, etc. That's the likliest-sounding story I've heard.

I don't think it's that likely that all of the 914s built had stuff built in that was designed solely for the GT cars. Enough of the features on the GTs look like "factory hack jobs" that I really doubt that the car was specifically designed with the GTs in mind...
