Angry First timer rust blues

I recently purchased my first 914 on sleazebay, a '73 2.0. It was of course purchased sight unseen in another state and taken to my father's house, where it was to have some minor service done to prepare it for the 650 mile ride home.
Well, I just got word that the repair done by the PO on the rusted trailing arm mount on the right rear was not located properly, which is why we can't properly align the wheel!!! Damn this long distance stuff.
My question (keep in mind that I am 650 miles away from this car right now) is what is involved in rebuilding the the trailing arm mount? Is there a replacement mount that I can purchase and have welded in?
Also, would now be a good time to go ahead and add the chassis stiffening kit? Can it be added without the removal of the engine or transmission?
I'm sorry if these questions seem dumb, just trying to make a plan so I can get this car home and start enjoying it!
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well, where to start.

If the hip has been welded incorrectly, sounds like a big job.
The engine and tranny must come out to weld in a new hip (if possible) this is not an easy task. This is not a weekend job. However, maybe possible to fix the car, but the expense...

If it were me, I would trailer the car home. The cheapest might be to get a truck and rent a tow dolly

Where is the car, We might find someone to help with the shipping.

Thanks for your reply, Jim. The car is currently in Ct., and I have already made the call to drag it back here on a trailer. Looks like I have some work ahead of me before I can start playing with it.
I see you are from Hickory, do you know of anyone out toward Raleigh that is into 914s?
