Rare factory options?

My 914 has a fiew options from the factory like A/C, Center Console, heated seats(maybe), and dad said that it might have Posi traction. what are some options that came dealer installed or factory for the 914? thanks all.

AC and the radio did not come from the factory. They were dealer installed items.

Positraction or more correctly limited slip, WAS an option.

Crank up the rear end, spin the wheels.....if they BOTH turn in the SAME direction at the same time.....you have it.

What looks like heated seats is undoubtedly the connection for the seat belt warning light/buzzer and interlock.

Limited slip would be cool....

Mine has a bug fogger and wife silencer. It even had a slot in the dash to hold a toll ticket.

aftermarket options

mine has a cool plastic center consol that goes back to a raised armrest with a hinged lid. Id like to install a pillow on the passanger seat so my 6 year old son can look out and see more than just tree tops. He is also my cup holder, passanger side mirror adjuster, and reminder of when to get home in time to stay out of trouble.

The later 914's might have had the option for a factory installed Blaupunkt Frankfurt Stereo (US version AM / FM). I saw an old order form that listed this as an option.

How about a trunk mounted luggage rack? Would that be a rare option?

The luggage rack and bumper overriders appear to be aftermarket items, dealer-installed.

I have only seen parts for the headlight washers for 75-76 cars with the big bumpers.

I have never ever heard of a gas heater designed for a 914. Now that would be really neat!

There was an additional rear-facing foglight as an option in Europe, we didn't get it here in the US except by special order or by mistake.

Different sources contradict each other on which if any radios were factory-installed. It appears as if most of the ones in the US were dealer-installed, but probably not all.

Hello

The headlight washer add been stock on the 73on skandivaian 914´s I still have one rubber lip with the nozzle base cutouts
Also wipe wash was mandatory.

The external ouside temperuter clock was the same like in the 911 and could be found in the similar corner. In 73 it was a optin with the middleconsule a 60 mm VDO instrument with a red LED lighting up at temperatures under 3°. The engine oil tmeperature was in the Combiinstrument.

However thies option was not listet in the pricelist and a special request by the dealers.

The gas heater system is covered in the first edition from the workshopmanuals. This edition also covered the 914/4 sportomatc

The suffixmanual for the 916 had also been in the prints. And then dumped at the printers warehouse. Some shhets where reused modifyed for the 911 suffix

( Some guys always wounder why the 2,2 S thermostate has a 916# or why the 2,4 crank is a 916# too )

Back on the gasheater. it was mountet in the fronttrunk and had special duccts runing trough the wall and obouve it.

I also remeber one car who had the gas heater installed in the enginebay. Not sure if theis was a option but id had benn done with a special steelbracket witch sportet a VW/NSU/Audi & Porsche parts sticker. The unit could be swivel away to have acces to the alternator & belt.

The gasheater option was needed to have the car homolatet wit blank headers
Units where mainly bought the northern countrys and the alp regions.
In 73 the gasheater was mountet inside the cabin where the foampeice normaly fills the footrest.
A liitle detail was that the unit could be timer startet and that was a own clock replacing the stock clock.

Grüsse
