Cool Newby tire question

Hello board newby here, I am about to take delivery of a 3.2 six (real) I had owned a 914/4 in the 70's, its been awhile. I can't wait, I lusted after the sixes when they were new and I was but a young teen. The car I am buying is setup for autoX with taught suspension and 6X15 911S wheels with 205/50/15 Hoosiers. I can't seem to locate a cross reference on what "Streetable" 205's will fit the car, without rubbing issues. Any ideas or help will be appreciated!

If you use those same wheels, just about any 205 should fit. The Hoosiers tend to run wider than the indicated size, so most 205s will be narrower than them.

You'll probably find that most or all 205s will rub the inner front fender, just aft of the shock tower. That only happens when the steering wheel is turned full-lock; most people just deal with it and try not to turn the wheel that far.

If you use different wheels, try to get ones with the same "backspacing" as those. It's probably in the 4 3/4" range. Rubbing problems will usually be in the rear of the car.

Another sixer!

Hi,

I'm running 225/50VR16 on 16x6 fuchs on stock fenders.

Passengers side rubbed a little on the inner fender during a drivers ed last weekend. Drivers side is ok.

Front will rub the inner fender a bit at full lock.

Other than that, life is good!
