Nice surprise

About to pull the T4 out of the speedster to do a top end and reseal, its still running good but has very worn valve guides and LOTS of oil leaks.
Have been running Weber 36 DCNV's but the venturies are a little small for the 1800 so I have been into my stash of Dellortos and found my 36's already have the right venturies and jets so I will have a reasonable "ballpark" tune to fit them.
Will order some choke block-off plates and maybe some idle jets for fine tuning.

This is the current set -up with Webers

Good spotting, yes it is,will have 3 layers of fiberglass over it when I deside what engine I will stay with, may stick with t4 as don't think my 911 motor will fit.
I'am using thin plywood for forming the interior lining of the body shell, this will be be fiberglassed over and sealed with polyester flowcoat.

Ordered short throttle arms and choke block-off plates today, have manifolds, air cleaners and bits and pieces for the throttle linkages, may just use a stock widened cross bar cause I have a spare.
Specs on the 36 DLRA carbs ;
52 idles,
180 air correctors,
135 mains,
32 vents.
All is ok for a start-up but may need 55 idles and bigger mains ,think I will wait and see.
Should see a good increase in power cause the 36DNCV's have very small 27mm vents.
Will ditch the german 09 pertronics and go to my newly rebuilt SVDA type bosch dizzy with hot-spark conversion.

Can we see some pic's of the car?

Those carbs are the predecessor of the DCNF carb and are quite desirable to the vintage speed crowd.

In a kit car 356 you have to cut off the tail and add 2" to make a 911 engine fit properly. I'd stick with the T4.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

thanks for your helpful comments Mark

Not sure if you want to see the car as it is pretty rough but most of the hard works done.
I purchased the bare shell years ago,it was never a kit car and is pretty much a handbuilt example based on all the best ways to do them ,I hope.
I have been driving it (private road) as it is ,lots fun, plenty of power

The 36DCNV carbs were supplied to an 80's model car called the Talbot Alpine, these cars came into my country in reasonale numbers but had a weak motor so is was able to purchase several of these carbs, I think I bought 6 .
As mentioned I need larger 30mm venturies, haven't found any ,they can be purchased for the 40's and 42's but not the 36.

The 2.2 T motor ? well after spending up on refresh parts for the motor and sorting oil tank its not happening now,I can move the motor forward but the fan housing is too tall to clear the body and I'am not interested in a lay flat fan conversion@ this stage.

Have access to a lathe? Make your own venturi's Open up the old ones.

We like rough, that's what some call 'outlaw'.

Thanks Mark, tryed to post current photos of car but too large, hope to resize so will add to post soon.

Very true about the vents have measured a spare and can machine to around 29mm without too many issues.

Can you read my mind ?,the cars is a mongrel so it will be an outlaw and very much lightweight.

Have a fair amount of original 356 parts going into the car having said that.
