Hey Kevin you gonna have that going & drive it down for the Pacific NW 914meet #2? I know your part of the Pacific NW914club right!!! THe meets on the 3rd & hope too see you here! Also I had a chance to check that '73 out at Jim's. He has 2 914-6s in his garage! Wow!!!! That car has alot of promise! Are you planning on getting a new front hood? Or are you gonna try to fix that gouge yourself? Good luck with it! I sure hope you make the meet. I sure would like the chance to race you! Noone can keep up with us 2.0. Except the 6'es of course. Just bring it everyone coming to the meet. I have a pretty good route lined up for us. Within the speed limit of course . I take no responsibility for those who can't keep up with the speed limit . See you all soon

answering double posts. the silver hood will be a give away or recycled, oh sort of the same thing. i've got a real nice one on my parts car. media blast it and have it color matched. the time to fix the dent would add to much to the cost, the gouge is into the support ribs on the underside . i'll aply that $ to the other minor paint glitches. this car is too nice for me to screw it up trying to do it myself and then have to pay someone double undoing my mistakes.

in germany it was labeled a porsche/vw. the porsche still came first.

Look for VW Type IV parts. ... You'll find that they are just as expensive as the Porsche parts, and just as hard to find. The Type IV has the same overall layout as the Type I (Bug) engines, but there are no significant parts that interchange.

ebay, Pelican, or their competitors + UPS equals easy to find 914 parts.

Lots of little bitty parts cross over to the VW bug. Check California import parts (in BC) www.partsvw.com for decent prices on some stuff without killer shipping and cross border stuff. They offer lots of little bits that PP doesn't list, and have a print catalog with good pics. I found lots of grommets, screws, and seals that were toast on my car. New and cheap even for us Canadians.
LMK if you need anything in particular, I'm winding down the project and will start getting rid of stuff to make room for the Lotus project. Don't tell my wife.

At the blackfoot tonight, off to Kananaskis tomorrow!

PS - Don't use UPS to Canada. They charge around $40 for brokerage, plus the 15% tax, plus freight. A real rip-off on small orders especially. Use the mail.
