Targa and Bumper Resto

Hi - I'm sorry if any of my posts are duplicates- here's another and thanks in advance for the help.

My targa top is showing some of its age - While it is in great shape is does have some spots that are whitish in color. I am wondering if there is a way to restore this or some product that I can use to make this and the bumpers look better.

Cheers,

Mike

For the top (and rocker panels, and valences) Wuerth Body Schutz is supposedly the "right stuff". For the roof, you mess with the spray gun settings until you get the proper "gloppy" texture.

You can probably do OK with regular satin black paint, if you prep the top. Use something that sticks to fiberglass, because that's what the top is.

The bumper tops of the 70-74 cars, and the bumper covers of the 75-76 cars, are rubber. Products like "Back to Black" or "Black Wow" can help make them look better. For 74, the non-chrome bumpers would be painted satin black and would have a little texture as well, like the valences and rocker panels. But obviously they're metal...

A touch of some matt black spray paint on the white spots can do wonders on a worn top for little $$ and effort. use a paint prep degrease/wax remover first

I've often thought that a good "fix" for a funky targa top might be some of that satin "wrinkle" type paint that you can get in a rattle can. Not proper, of course, but maybe a good looking alternative to either restoring the factory finish or dealing with the headache of trying to smooth it out and color match...
