914 Cardex Confusion

I just received the COA info on my 1972 914. The color code on this car per the COA is M7 Zambezi Green with 31 Beige Leatherette. The car is yellow with black interior and there is absolutely no proof that this car has had a color change. The engine area, trunk, jams, fender wells, etc look correct with the yellow color.

Is there any chance that the car received a change in color during production?

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Look up under the dash with a flashlight as many good body shops will get all the visible areas. Another place is to pull a rocker panel but that is a little harder.

It is less likely that the color was changed in production, than that the record was copied incorrectly onto the COA. The records are or were kept by hand, and this is not the first typo or irregularity that I have heard of.

Do you have the "KARMANN plate" on the door jamb? That will tell you the color code.

Here is the info on the car...It appears to be a Chrome Yellow Color Code which is the color of the car now. It didn't even look like Zambezi Green was an option for 1972 which is on the COA.

VIN: 4722918898

Karmann Tag
NR. 2359590

KUNSTHARZLACK
L13M

I also appears that the car was built on a Friday. Maybe that's the problem! LOL!!!

Thanks for all the help. Any other info is welcome!

The code says yellow, the car is yellow. I think we can conclude the certificate is wrong.
