914 914 oil recommendation, brand, viscosity etc
need some advise, 1975 914 2.0l need a oil recommendation, brand, viscosity etc, also how many quarts do they hold with a new filter?. Thanks

Brad Penn 20/50, 4 quarts with filter. (More or less. Put in 3 1/2, run it a bit, then measure.)
Others have their own favorites. It's probably a good idea to get one with higher levels of ZDDP than current standards allow. The "flat tappets" have a better chance of not wearing the camshaft out that way. --DD

i have used Castrol 20W-50 non sythetic here in TX where its over 100 alot!
Depending on the temps where you live, you can choose the proper grade.. just don't get synthetic. when it gets hot (while running) the synthetic stuff seems to find ways to seep out and leak a little. Good luck.

Valvoline VR-1 Racing oil in 20/50. Make sure you get the "not approved for street use", the one without the SAE roundel on it. That's the one that has the high ZDDP levels.
I wouldn't use a current formulation of Castrol, myself, unless they start making a high ZDDP oil. --DD
