Brass/Bronze Shifter Bushings

Any interest from the group in brass/bronze shifter bushings?
I made up a few sets...
I made the firewall bushing, mid point, and cup bushing.
These are machined to a much finer tolerance than the plastic one and will reduce even more slop...
I will put them in tommorow and give it a try...

If it works I'd be willing to try... always looking to stiffen up that shifter. Let us know how they work! It would be a great addition to my solid tranny mounts.

How are you doing the cup bushing since it pops in?

OK,
I installed the Firewall Bushings. Basically I made it with a larger flange and used rivets to secure it. The replacement plastic bushing as way way to large...
This one in nice and snug, but loose enough to allow for smooth movement.
This one is a leverage point that had to much flex for precise shifting, and there is no need for lateral movement here, only rotation and sliding in and out..
The cup bushing:
I made that one longer (taller) than the original. This way instead of the cup sliding in and out of the joint, now the ball slides in and out of the cup.
This gave me a way to get much better tolerance at this critical joint. The replacement plastic part was far to loose and at this point on the shifter the slightest play is amplified when it gets to the shifter.

The mid-point bushing going through the shifter housing is similar to the one that can be had at pelicanparts, or GPR. Again decreased the play.
I am trying to find a web site to post the pics at...will get back to you all tonight.

Does anyone want me to make a run of these?
I would need to understand the number of sets to make to ensure that they are a reasonable cost. The first ones took a long time, many different test...
Finally a good set is ready and installed.

Price will depend on how many I have to make..
The more we do at once, the less they are...

The first ones were quite expensive...

You need to tell us...specifics if you want an order.

"if I make 10 sets they will be $X a set"

"if I make 1 set it will be $10X for one set"

and then get 10 prepaid orders.

The real question is:

so how does it shift now?

Looks promising but like the above post I would need a little more info on pricing before I say yes or no.

Price

OK,
Price
If I do 25 pieces of each here we go.

The firewall bushing $32.00
The rear cup bushing $24.00
the mid bushing you can get from pelicanparts or GPR.

BTW, It shifts alot tighter, much easier to find the gears...
I dont hit reverse anymore...That was the quest...Fast shifting without a pause, and no knicking reverse on the way to second...Done!
