cam specs & carb
Sorry to trouble all, but I am at wits end. My 75 has a 73 1.7, that has been seriously abused by others. Two things have been a mystery.
#1 It is reported to have an 'H' cam installed. Does anyone know what the characteristics of the cam are?? Or even a place to call?? #2 It has one carb stratling the motor about dead center. There are four tubes coming out of the plentum to each cylinder. Is this the stock set up? If not, does it sound familiar to anyone? All of this is leading to solving a greater mystery of an incredibly rich fuel problem. Thanks |

I don't know what to say about #1.
No 914 was ever originally sold with a single carb--ever. No US-spec 914 was ever originally sold with anything but fuel injection. Carbs in this country are all aftermarket. Sounds like someone did the "single Pinto weber carb" conversion on your car. A rich condition could be caused by all manner of things, from improper jetting to too much fuel pressure. (The original pump puts out 35+ PSI, most carbs expect less than 5 PSI.) --DD |
