Front Shock removal?

I've lost my Haynes manual. Can someone give a brief step process of how to remove & install front schocks? Thanks in advance.

As I recall, Haynes has you do extra work for that procedure anyway...

Check out the Tech Article on this subject on the 914 Fan Page http://www.914fan.net .

It's pretty well-written. It's what I used when I replaced mine.

I just installed bilsteins on my 76 2.0 following the tech article on the Pelican parts web page. It took about 45 minutes for the 1'st one and 15 for the second. Pretty easy

It is simple, if you have a spanner wrench... All you have to do is jack up one corner, take the nut off from the top, inside of the trunk, push the piston rod down through, and pull the whole strut assembly out so that you can barely get the shock out. when you have the wheel wobbling and free simply loosen the spanner nut and it slips right out. You probally will be able to just get by without taking off the wheels or the brake lines. Installation is in the reverse. Don't forget the rubber bushing that goes inside of the strut.! This is probally the easiest, and surprising procedures I have ever done. I did not even have a book with me, abd still came right out in no time

I used a pipe wrench rather than a spanner wrench. It's ugly, and it bangs up the nut and the strut, but it works. I had a friend help me, and we wound up loosening the nuts with the end of the shock still up in the rest of the car. We couldn't get enough leverage otherwise.
