TPS D-Jetronic

What a humbling experience! I am having problems troubleshooting a F.I. problem with the TPS on a 72 1.7. I know that with the key forward (power to the system) that I should get a succession of clicks when the throttle plate is opened if everything is okay because I have actually in the past been able to diagnose F.I. problems. Well I have no successive clicking and yes my grounds are in place. I just rechecked the trigger points. The TPS is brand new and I set it with a multimeter. One question that I do have and do not know is how to manually trip the injectors through the harness I.E. touching this to that should click those Ha-ha! I know that sounds funny but I am trying to logically deduce the problem. Anyway any help is appreciated. Thanks!
