Brake light issue

Blow both brake light bulbs(brake element of the two elements only) with brake application. Replaced switch at the pedal cluster and cleaned housing contacts with no effect.

Bad ground?

Thanks

crappy bulbs are rampant these days (thanks, you Chinese bastards!!!). So long as your really running 12 volt bulbs rather than six, there is not much else you can do cept change the bulb out, try a different brand. also note that some bulbs are high watt replacements and they tend to not last as long.

I recently replaced two back up bulbs, within two months one burned out. I see a heck of a lot of cars these days running around with a dead tail light, brake light etc.... more so than 30 years ago. I used to be able to get made in USA bulbs, now they all seem to be Chinese crap.

A bad ground would not cause your bulb to burn out, it is simply a crappy bulb. That is what happens when we allow the Red Chinese to take away our American manufacturing base.
Even my house light bulbs are made in red china these days and they have a shorter life than when they where made here. I read a while ago the last house light bulb factory has closed in America, so sad, lost jobs, high welfare rates, and crappy products going to pay for a stronger Red Chinese military which we must spend to defend against with meager tax revenue do to the lost jobs and high welfare costs.

It may be time to consider LED lights, however they too are likely made in red china. We are ****ed.

Keep your politics out of here, ok?

Look for Osram bulbs if you can find them and always replace in pairs. Also check the grounds.

It's not politics, it is survival, and a good dose of common sense.

No, it's politics--and it doesn't belong here. Take it to the OT Religion & Politics board if you wish to continue with it.

No politics. The post made was regarding the quality of lights from red china, and the hidden costs like higher taxes that you incur when buying from red china.

My hope is that people are informed where to buy quality parts like brake lights, and are informed of the total cost of the purchase including hidden taxes, so they can get the best deal, all costs and quality considered.

Had I stated that one should avoid red chinese products because of their brutal suppression of Tibet, support of the murderous North Korean regime, the mass murder of Chinese dissidents, military provocations against us and our Allies, then it would have been a political post. But such was not the case.

The post was strictly about the quality and hidden cost of these products which is a proper topic to post about. So what is political????

I haven't tried the LED conversion bulbs but I'm told the current draw is extremely low and is easier on your wiring and electrical system. Anybody try these bulbs yet in their vintage Porsche?
