914-6 GT rear rims

hi all,

would anyone know what these rear rims are?
Mini lite? Panasport?
And do you know the size?

Seems to be a very popular set up for the 6 GT to use Fuchs in front and this minilite/panasport rear.
(photos off of google)

Thanks for any info

Cheers
Carson

I believe they are Minilites. If I recall correctly, I have read that they were used because there weren't any Fuchs wheels wide enough for what they wanted to run on the rear of the 914-6 GT at the point where they were made.

Thank you Dave. Do you think they'd be 9" rims? Just by looking at the photos; the front looks like 8" or bigger; the rear definitely wider than a 8", right?

I do not remember. You can hunt through 914-6 GT's Photo Galleries at pbase.com to see if you can find the answer--Armando has collected tons of info and megatons of photos of the GT cars over the years!

Also look at The Porsche 914-6 GT Page ; Glenn may have wheel info on there as well.

Yes, those are Minilites. I do not know the offset, but I am going to hazard a guess that the wheel width is 8". Looks like Fuchs 8's on the front of that last white car. It also has a wider than standard GT flare on the rear so I'll bet those Minilites are 9".

Plenty of room under the front GT flares, but no so with the rears. 8" Fuchs are about the limit of what you can put on the back unless the offset is is more to the inside of the chassis. I have a set of very tasty 8.5" American Mags that I wanted to put on, but they are offset too much to the outside of the wheel well. They won't fit inside the flare with tires mounted. If racers put 9's on the cars, I'll bet the flares are widened from standard GT spec.
