Cleaning up Mahle Wheels
Hello,
I just acquired a set of Mahle Wheels and I want to clean them up but I would like opinions on the best cleansing product that will definitely not affect the finish!! Thanks, Ron

I've had no problems with wheel cleaner and a brush damaging the paint. Maybe you are looking for a deeper clean though...

Were Mahle wheels painted silver or just bare aluminum?

I think that they were painted. The shiny ones I've seen at the concours were. I assume that they originally were as well. They have a semi-rough texture--almost sandblasted--but are still shiny which says "paint" to me...

Glass bead blast them clean.
From PP, two cans of Wurths Silver ($16.00 each), two cans of Wurths clear ($7.00 each) Tada - Factory finish I used one can each to paint 5 wheels, but only painted the outsides. Don, at PP, used two cans as he painted the insides too!

I used paint remover and a wire brush and heavy latex gloves, then the Wurth silver paint and clear paint... They looked beautiful!
