How to ID Weber Carbs?
I have a set of Weber 2 barrel carbs. I can't find any obvious ID numbers. I am pretty sure they are IDF's based on pictures in the Haynes Weber Manual. How can I determine if they are 40's or 44's? Do the numbers refer to venturi/throat diameter in mm? Are there numbers on the body somewhere? I have bifocals but haven't tried a magnifying glass!

The numbers are stamped on the mounting flange, I believe oposite of the side with the idle adjustment and air compensation screws. 40 or 44 refers to the diameter of the throat in millimeters. The venturis are removable and come in different sizes, there is a number cast into the top side to denote size.
