Joined the club
A week ago I purchased a '73 2.0 914.
Was an accident really, I was not looking to buy any car at all, I was quite content driving my Chevy van to work for the last ten years. Wow, what a blast! I have forgotten how much fun it can be to go for a drive with the top down. I probably put on more miles in the last week than the previous owner in the last year. The 914 is in good shape. Does not look like it has ever been in a serious wreck. Engine runs strong and starts every time. The odometer stopped at 140 k miles so I have no idea what the real milage is. There is some rust of course, but nothing serious. I want to rebuild the engine in the winter months, stop the rust and repair the few holes there are and re-paint next summer. I have no plans to turn that car into a show- car but keep it in a nice shape and enjoy driving it. Please bare with me in the next months when I have to ask for help. So far I have programmed the Pelican parts phone# in my speed dial, bought new Pirelli tires, ordered new shocks, struts, springs and the BMW 320 brake upgrade. Neal Capener Port Angeles, WA |

Hey Neal, I know the area fairly well. Lived in Port Ludlow and worked for the City of Port Townsend. Parents just moved from Sequim. It'd be quite a drive but, maybe, you could make it down to Portland for one of the PNW 914 club meets. And that goes for the others up in Seattle/Tacoma areas. Good luck with the new teener.

Welcome Neal!
Good to have another PNW 914er. We have a pretty good club. PacificNW914@yahoogroups.com . Joining on Yahoo is kinda a pain but our club is worth it. We have 38 members since it began in June. Hope to hear from you & see you at some event soon.

Thanks for the replies. I am glad to see there are a bunch of 914 drivers (and soon to be) in the NW.
I'll try to get the car ready for the Bremerton Autocross, but... relistically, I'll be just watching. Neal |

neal, if you go just walk up to someone standing next to a 914 stick out your hand and say howdy, and don't be timid about asking questions. hopefully you won't have to say hello to some dope in a red jetta, just a dope in a silver 73'. time permitting they have "fun runs". bring a helmet (i'm not sure of the spec requirements) if you have one and maybe you can bum a ride along.
