Brad, please tell me you are going to start building new 914 chassis from original tooling like British Heritage does with all the cool little Brit cars. I'm just dreaming, but know there would be a pretty good market for them if only some saintly person would JUST BUILD EM! Can you just imagine brand new totally rust free chassis and galvinized metal to boot. If only sombody out there would hear my plea. Sorry, just dreaming out loud.

Several of us have sat around a large table and discussed what this would take (to build new 914's) Porsche wont cough up the tooling that we would need to dupe them. IF we duped the tooling it would cost around 650K to make the tooling for the stamping dies and trim dies.
The question is: Follow this thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-914-914-6-technical-forum/81898-what-would-we-pay-new-914-a.html B |
Porsche is so lame. I wish the 914 wasn't a Porsche. Don't they see they could stand to make some money and promote there name at the same time. If people are so fanatical about your product, past or present, wouldn't you try to acomedate them. I so wish the 914 was a Triumph or MG. Those people would make sure we had our bodies. They want the work. Porsche instead insults us by attacking our aftermarket suppliers. I guess I'm just wasting my time. I wish I was more into my Spitfire, but for some strange reason this car keeps louering me back.

This could be interesting... maybe a bit far off, but still
I think there would be quite a bit of interest if the built quality was good. I think there's enough people out there that would like to have a "real" sportscar, that can deliver a real driving sensation. You know, the stuff that Porsches were made of back when... Not one of those ******* cars like the new MR2, S2000 or Miata's, which are IMHO a poor excuse for a sportscar I'm thinking more in the lines of a Lotus Elise Except with German build quality 8^) Combine that with a serious Porsche drive train and I think you'd have a winner. Tube frame, "plastic" body work, independent double-wishbone suspension 4 available "luxury" options: Leather seats, leather dash, radio, sigarette lighter. 914 looks with updated bumpers, flared fenders and 17"or 18" wheels Shoot, I could go on for hours and hours... If you need more stoopid ideas or a european dealer, gimme a call 8^) Cheers, Jeroen |

Ever driven one of those "******* cars"? A 914 buddy of mine autoXed a 1st-year MR2 Spyder. His conclusion--"All it needs is a limited slip. Period!" --DD |
Hey Dave,
People don't buy these cars because they want a sportscar, they buy em because they look hip. And they're build to these standards They're made for the daily commute of hairdressers 8^) After a ride in a REAL sports car, your butt should be sore, your knuckles should be white and your knees should feel week. It should scare the living $hit outta ya every time you stomp the loud pedal. It should NOT be a car you could send your grandmother out with to get groceries But then again, that just how I see things 8^) Cheers, Jeroen |
