Re-Grind stock cam or Web-Cam?

Stock Injection on 73 2.0L. Which would provide better performance, if there is any improvement?

I don't think you can get away with much cam and keep the stock D-Jet. But if you're gonna try it anyway, my vote would be to go new, because Type4 cams are cheap anyway. I don't know what a regrind costs but I doubt the difference is much.

Web cam...The stock grind is very lazy and is not my choice even for astock engines, even with FI...The 73 is a great FI cam, idles like stock and pulls hard. The heads WILL cool off 15-20 degrees even with more CR.

Jake,

Could you elaborate a little on the Web cam? If I read correctly, you're suggesting the "Web-Cam Stock Cam" (Lift .423, Duration 270 Degrees) for use with the stock FI system. I had understood this to be the cam for use with carbs not FI. Will this actually work as you describe?

Sorry for the speculation, it just that I'm pricing parts for a 2.0 rebuild and plan to stay with FI.

TIA,

So, the web-cam stock cam, available from Pelican, right?

3D914, ya beat me to it!!

No, web 73, it is stock FI compatible. I use thyem all the time.

no mods necessary?

Jake Raby 09-29-2002 01:58 PM

You may find it necessary to use chromoly pushrods if the valve train geometry warrants a pushrod length change. Valve train geometry is always needed even with a stock cam.

I would advise utilizing 911 adjusters as well.
