motor mounts
I am rebuilding my 1974 914 and am reading a book by Patrick Paternie on how he restored his 914. In the book he states that you need to change the motor mounts to 911 mounts but did not give the part number, Does anyone know the part number
Thanks |

Do not change the motor mounts for 911 parts. You can do that on 70-72 914s, but not on 73+ 914s. (Nor on early cars with side-shift conversions.) The mounts were changed for the 73 model year and the 911 ones are not compatible.
You can change the transmission mounts for 911 ones. In some cases, the mounting holes in the tabs on the chassis need to be slightly elongated. https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/SuperCat/0800/POR_0800_ENGMIS_pg5.htm#item15 The 911 motor mounts should be slightly stiffer than the stock 914 trans mounts, but chances are pretty good that you won't notice a lot of difference. --DD
