engine revs,
This has been happening to me for the whole time I've had my car. If I rev it up to about 5000 rpm or higher and then let go of the throttle the revs drop smoothly to about 2500rpm and then the tach bounces up to about 3000rpm and then drops to a very low idle. Sometimes the car seems like it is going to die for a second then it jumps back to a normal idle (8-900rpm) and all is fine. I have adjusted the throttle body adjustment screw all the way in to get the right idle speed and played with the air bypass screw on the air flap meter to get the best idle. All my vac. hoses are new with clamps and I have spent many hours checking for vacume leaks and tested all the fuel injection components to make sure they work. The AAV does its job great and the car starts first crank all the time. I'm not sure what I shoud be checking for as everything works as it should exept for this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks for everyones help on this BB, its great to get some new ideas to fix a problem when you have been working at it for hours (or days). Dave

If the tach is bouncing up to 3000 RPMs without the engine spinning that fast (you'd hear it), then the ignition is not quite up to snuff.
